This remarkable blade originates from the legendary Osafune school of Bizen Province, one of the most celebrated swordmaking centers in Japanese history.

The Nanbokuchō period is renowned among collectors for its powerful sugata and dynamic workmanship swords forged during a time of intense warfare and artistic innovation.

With a nagasa of 69.1 cm and elegant tachi curvature (1.6 cm sori), this blade retains beautiful classical proportions. It represents the refined yet martial character for which late 14th-century Bizen blades are highly prized.

Osafune smiths of this era were heirs to the traditions of Nagamitsu and Kagemitsu, producing blades distinguished by:
