This exceptional Tsunahiro sword, a masterpiece from the famous swordsmith family 1857 , is being publicly released for the first time.
It was originally exhibited in a municipal art museum in the United States around Heisei 16 (2004), where it was accidentally discovered by a Japanese museum.
The sword’s remarkable quality prompted negotiations to return it to Japan, where it was exhibited several times and eventually stored in the museum around Heisei 25 (2013).
Through a fortunate connection with the museum, and after 11 months of negotiations, I was able to acquire this extraordinary sword.
The blade is a prime example of Tsunahiro’s craftsmanship, featuring intricate carvings on both the front and back.
The detailed engraving of the Kuri Gara mirror, a rare and unique feature for Tsunahiro swords, makes this piece even more special.
The sword is believed to have been made by Tsunahiro himself, as evidenced by its superior craftsmanship and fine details beyond the carvings.
This sword offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of the Tsunahiro legacy.
The blade is inscribed on the front with “Aishu Kamakura Sumitsunahiro” and on the back with the date “Ansei 4th Year, 2nd Month.
