This is a true Daisho set, original fittings to mid Edo period. Both katana and wakizashi were made by different smiths at the exact same period Katana: Mei: Kōzuke no Kami Hisakuni – 63.35 cm HISAKUNI (久国), Kyōhō (享保, 1716-1736), Tosa – “Kōzuke no Kami Hisakuni” (上野守久国), “Tosa-jū Kōzuke no Daijō Fujiwara Hisakuni” (土佐住上野大掾藤原久国), real name Kimura Hei´emon (木村平右衛門), he also bore the first name Heizō (平造), adopted son of the 1st gen. Kunimasu (国益), he went during the Hōei era (宝永, 1704-1711) to Kyōto and studied there under the 2nd gen.
